Prayer For America

Oh, God on high, we pray to Thee:

Preserve this land of liberty,

The land where heroes fought and died

to stem oppression's rising tide,

The only land upon the earth

where all may rise above their birth,

Whose people seek to keep these shores

Immune from class and racial wars,

Whose Eagle's not a bird of prey,

but one who guards us night and day.

protect us from dissension's hates--

Lord bless our great United States.

At Hand

Samson met one thousand foes,
and only had at hand

The jawbone of an ass he used
To wipe out all the band.

Shamgar met six hundred foes,
And only had at hand

And ox goad, but he slew them all
And thereby saved the land.

Moses had so many trials,
And only had at hand

A lowly rod, but my, what pow'r
When used at God's command!

Whatever talent you've been giv'n-
